\"\"<\/td>\nThe Bald Eagle Repeater Assoc. actively participates in SKYWARN.\u00a0 SKYWARN is a program of the United States’ National Weather Service (NWS). Its mission is to collect reports of localized severe weather. These reports are used to aid forecasters in issuing and verifying severe weather watches and warnings and to improve the forecasting and warning processes and the tools used to collect meteorological data. It consists of a network of severe storm spotters that observe weather conditions and make reports of severe weather to their local NWS offices. These spotters are trained by personnel from the local NWS offices each spring in advance of the coming severe weather season.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Cold-Season (Winter) criteria:<\/span><\/p>\n

  • Snowfall<\/b><\/span>\n
      \n
    • When (new) snow accumulation reaches 3 inches<\/span><\/li>\n
    • When (new) snow accumulation reaches 6 inches<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Give a final report\/total at the end of the storm (water equivalent if possible)<\/span><\/li>\n
    • 1 inch per hour or greater accumulation rates<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
    • Ice<\/b><\/span>\n
        \n
      • Any occurrence, or accumulation, of freezing rain<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Accumulation of 1\/4\u2033 or more of ice on trees\/wires<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
      • General Winter Reports<\/b><\/span>\n
          \n
        • When forecast winter precipitation differs significantly from observed (i.e. snowing with no snow in forecast, sleet\u2026when only snow is forecast\u2026)<\/span><\/li>\n
        • Any other significant weather occurrence\/oddity (i.e. flooding due to snow melt\/ice jam, damage from strong winds not associated with a thunderstorm)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          Warm-season (Thunderstorms) criteria:<\/span><\/p>\n

            \n
          • Tornadoes or funnel clouds<\/b>\u00a0(be very wary of look-a-likes; watch for rotation)<\/span><\/li>\n
          • Wall clouds<\/b>, especially if they are rotating<\/span><\/li>\n
          • Hail<\/b>\u00a0(Please be specific with regard to size)<\/span><\/li>\n
          • Other sizes\/descriptions to use for hail:<\/span><\/li>\n
          • *\u00a0Pea<\/strong><\/span>\u00a00.25 inch<\/span><\/li>\n
